AhlulBayt News Agency: Indirect ceasefire talks between the Israeli regime and the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas are set to resume in Doha, Qatar, a day after the previous round ended without progress.
A Palestinian official familiar with the negotiations stated that discussions will continue Monday, with mediators holding separate meetings with each party to resolve disputes and narrow differences.
Sunday’s session lasted approximately three and a half hours, with messages passed via Qatari and Egyptian intermediaries.
The talks are taking place as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu travels to Washington to meet U.S. President Donald Trump. Netanyahu claimed the meeting could contribute to progress on a Gaza ceasefire and a prisoner swap deal.
Previously, Netanyahu’s office announced that a delegation was being sent to Qatar for indirect talks with Hamas, but also said Netanyahu had rejected amendments proposed by Hamas to a 60-day ceasefire plan as “unacceptable,” without specifying details.
Two Palestinian officials told media outlets that the Israeli delegation lacked proper authority to finalize a deal with Hamas, describing it as having “no real powers.”
Despite the outstanding issues and ongoing Israeli aggression, Hamas has expressed conditional support for the proposed ceasefire.
Since January, Israel and Hamas have been engaged in indirect talks aimed at securing a ceasefire in Gaza and facilitating the exchange of Palestinian detainees and Israeli captives.
